Roma have made key progress in securing their first signing of the summer and has completed a medical examination of Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar.
According to a report from Il Messaggero via TuttomercatoWeb, the 24-year-old high-profile versatile midfielder completed his medicals last Monday in Rome for the Giallorossi club and it points towards the fact that the player to close to joining the Giallorossi.
There is no official confirmation about such an event from Roma but the club’s general manager Tiago Pinto has Houssem Aouar under his grasp after a series of meetings and official visits.
The player’s contract with Lyon is set to expire on June 30, and for this reason, Jose Mourinho’s side have stepped up their pursuit so as to fend off any late competition as the season reaches its end.
Aouar was previously quoted by Roma last summer but Lyon’s asking price of around €15 million was out of consideration for the Italian capital club due to their financial constraints. The Algerian has always looked for a future away from France as he is one of the best-emerging talents in world football and it seems now that he will be showing his eye-catching performances on Italian soil next season.
