According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool want to sign a right-footed centre-back and have targeted RB Salzburg’s Oumar Solet (24) as a potential option.
On his ‘Here We Go’ Podcast, Romano reported that Liverpool considered the Lyon academy graduate as a potential option in the January transfer window, but decided against making an official bid for the 24-year-old. Instead, the Reds postponed their search for a centre-back until the summer transfer window.
Solet was the subject of interest from Napoli in the January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato. The Serie A side even agreed a deal with Salzburg to sign the former France U21 international. However, for reasons unknown, terms weren’t agreed with the player and a move never went through.
A potential option for the summer?
With Liverpool postponing their search for a right-footed centre-back until the summer transfer window, they could potentially act upon their interest and bring the Salzburg defender to Anfield. Solet has made his desire to play in the Premier League no secret in the past. During an interview with Foot Mercato, the former Lyon defender previously said, “I could see myself in the Premier League, it is one of the best championships in the world.”
