Liverpool boss Klopp admits Elliott missing due to competition

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits Harvey Elliott has been missing due to competition.

Elliott hasn’t featured since the Reds’ cup victory over Norwich at the start of March, with the teenager making five appearances since returning from a five-month lay-off with a dislocated ankle with a goal against Cardiff last month.

Klopp is set to make changes against FA Cup opponents Nottingham Forest, with the Liverpool boss already confirming that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the game while Mohamed Salah and James Milner are both doubts. Yet to decide his side for the match as a result, he did reveal who would start in goal before explaining Elliott’s recent situation.

“FA Cup is Ali,” the German told reporters. “We’re not managing him (Elliott) really to be honest. It’s the competition for places and stuff like this.

“He was really long out, came back and immediately looked, ‘Wow, he’s back!’ But then everything settles slightly and that’s how it is. A completely normal situation, it’s all fine. He’s training well, it’s all fine.”
