Liverpool have reached the Champions League quarter-finals despite a nervy 1-0 loss to Inter Milan at Anfield on Tuesday.
Following on from a 2-0 win in the first leg, the Reds and their supporters were made to sweat for the final 29 minutes after Lautaro Martinez broke the deadlock with a stunning strike.
Jurgen Klopp’s side would have felt hard done by not to have gone ahead after hitting the woodwork on a number of occasions.
Joel Matip struck the crossbar with a header before Mohamed Salah hit either post in front of the Kop.
Inter lifted their intensity in the second-half and were rewarded when Martinez unleashed a brilliant strike into the top corner.
However the Italian side’s chances of equalising took a hit when Alexis Sanchez was shown his second yellow card just two minutes later.
Luis Diaz had a glorious chance in the final moments but his low shot was blocked brilliantly by Arturo Vidal.
It wasn’t as comfortable as they had hoped but Liverpool are now into the final-eight.
The Premier League side will learn their quarter-final opponents when the draw takes place in Nyon on March 18.
