Former Albania captain Altin Lala would like to see Kristjan Asllani playing more regularly at Inter Milan.
A summer loan signing from Empoli, it’s just been announced Inter will be signing Asllani permanently after victory over AC Milan on Sunday triggered the option in his contract.
Lala, a former captain of Hannover, is a big fan of Asllani, but feels his progress has been held back this season. Indeed, the former midfielder believes the youngster would’ve benefited more if Inter had bought him from Empoli and loaned him back to the Tuscans to assist his development.
Speaking with Tribalfootball.com, Lala explained, “This is the difficulty because they are young players with their dreams. For me the best solution would have been that Inter bought him and left him at Empoli for one or two more years to grow and to play more and more minutes.”
Lala insists Asllani has all the qualities to develop into a top class Serie A performer – but he also needs the opportunity to play.
“He has great qualities and is at a big club but still is one of the reserves,” said Lala. “It not good for me that he plays every match 10-15 minutes.
“Instead, he should play more and have more minutes in his legs.
“Also don’t forget that he has in front of him a great player like (Marcelo) Brozovic.”
So far this season, Asllani has made 19 appearance for the Nerazzurri, with 11 in Serie A. The midfielder’s move from Empoli includes a contract to 2027 once his deal is made permanent by Inter.
