According to L’Équipe, Kylian Mbappé’s (25) future could become public knowledge rather quickly. The future of the France captain has been a question debated by the footballing public for a long time and the eventual conclusion of the coined “soap opera” by the French media could come to its ultimate conclusion in the rather near future.
With less than 6 months on his Paris Saint-Germain contract, Mbappé is now free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with other clubs as a free agent. Despite this, the former Monaco forward’s future is still no clearer. Real Madrid are expected to make a limited-time offer for the PSG attacker, according to The Athletic. However, PSG are “optimistic” that their starman could sign a new deal to extend his time at the Parc des Princes, according to L’Équipe. Another option on the table for Mbappé is Liverpool, with the forward “not indifferent” to their interest, according to Le Parisien.
Unsurprisingly, the interest in gaining and retaining the France international’s services is high. Financially, the cards are in the hands of Mbappé from PSG’s perspective, L’Équipe reports. The forward is free to make a decision which suits both his footballing and financial ambitions. The decision is now up to Mbappé. In recent quotes about his future, the 25-year-old said, “I have not made my decision, I have not made my choice. With the agreement I made with the president, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and protect the club.” Despite his final decision not being made, PSG are planning for the future.
PSG planning for the future with and without Mbappé
Les Parisiens are planning for a future both with and without Kylian Mbappé beyond the 2023/24 season, according to L’Équipe. Whilst the Ligue 1 champions remain optimistic about their chances of the forward signing a contract extension, they are not ignorant of the fact he could leave the club and hence are planning for both scenarios moving forward.
If the eventuality arises that Kylian Mbappé does leave the Ligue 1 club, this could have consequences for the footballing operation at PSG. This could leave the role of Luis Campos, by whom the operation is led, vulnerable as a result, L’Équipe reports.
