Kroos delighted as Real Madrid manage to see off Cadiz

Real Madrid managed to defeat Cadiz in a scrappy clash on Thursday night.

Goals from Eder Militao and Toni Kroos in either half looked like Los Blancos were set for a comfortable win, only for a late Lucas Perez strike to cause a nervy finish. In the end, the hosts held on to earn three points after a draw to Girona and a defeat to Rayo Vallecano.

Afterwards, Kroos said: “The way the ball came I couldn’t shoot with the inside of my boot. I was able to help the team with the goal and I’m happy. We put in a good performance, barring the last 10 minutes. We had chances but at the end we suffered a little with an unneeded goal. I think it was a good game and a deserved victory.

“We’re doing well this season, but it’s still too early. There are a lot of things to be won next year and we’ll be fighting for them. Every competition is difficult to win. We’ve got the Spanish Super Cup, then the Club World Cup, Champions League, the league and Copa del Rey. There’re a lot of games and we need to be ready for them.

“The opposition defend their way, we have to remain calm and play our game. If we react badly, we’ll be playing their game, and that’s what they want. You waste time with every argument. I always prefer to stay out of it and play football because we’re a better team. We always find it difficult when the game stops and starts.”
