Inter signed Kristjan Asllani from Empoli as a like-for-like cover for Marcelo Brozović in the last summer transfer window. It appears as if the moment of truth has finally arrived, with Asllani expected to replace an injured Brozović for Inter’s game against Roma on Saturday.
Following the international break, the Serie A returns this weekend. However, the ramifications of the pause have hit Inter hard, with Brozović now on the sideline after sustaining a thigh injury in Croatia’s Nations League fixture against Austria. The report claims that Brozović could miss a month of action for the Nerazzurri.
Therefore, Asllani, who is yet to make a start for the senior team at the club, is expected to come in and fill the void in the midfield department for the weekend’s game against Jose Mourinho’s men. Speaking about the opportunity while giving an interview to Tuttosport, Asllani said:
“It’s a pity we lost Marcelo, a fundamental player for us. But if my turn comes, well I’m ready. I’ll try to give my best.”
Since moving to Inter, the Albania international has earned 30 minutes of game time across three appearances in all competitions. While Inter are not in any position to slip further down the ladder, this might be the chance the 20-year-old needs to prove his worth at his new club.
