According to our colleagues at Sport Zone, PSG Sporting Advisor Luís Campos has now told AS Roma manager José Mourinho that he is unlikely going to be successful in convincing the Qatari royal family to make him the next manager of the Ligue 1 champions.
Mourinho has been for a long time considered as a credible candidate to take Les Parisiens over with the departure of current coach Christophe Galtier now a mere formality.
Mourinho was considered by Qatar to be a “gettable option” in the event that talks with Luis Enrique, Antonio Conte, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann failed, but he has not been unanimously favoured by the decision-makers.
Several individuals in positions of decision-making power around PSG don’t like how close and linked Campos and Mourinho are, having collaborated together at Real Madrid in the previous decade, fearing that the duo are too close and would form too powerful a dynamic.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has informed his colleagues that he would even prefer Bologna coach Thiago Motta to Mourinho.
In Doha, the key targets are Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann. Both individuals were approached last month but did not give warm responses to the idea of becoming the new PSG manager, as explained by Foot Mercato.
