Most of you know of this story but never heard it straight from the horse’s mouth. Chelsea star Jorginho has revealed how he ended up where he was not meant to settle.
After emerging as one of Serie A’s finest central midfielders at Napoli under Maurizio Sarri, the Italian player’s agent was flooded with offers.
The midfielder says he flew to England without really knowing that he was going to sign for a different club from the one he traveled to join.
“I wasn’t supposed to come to Chelsea,” Jorginho explained to Brazilian pundit Ale Oliveira in a YouTube interview.
“I was supposed to have arrived at another club. Another English club. And then it happened as it happened and I arrived at Chelsea.
“So with Chelsea everything happened very fast. When I saw their offer, I was already in London and I said, ‘Let’s go.
While we all knew from reports that it was Manchester City he was meant to join, Jorginho concluded with an obvious giveaway by mentioning Pep Guardiola.
“Have I ever dreamed of playing under Guardiola? I have. I don’t know if it will happen. But yeah, he’s a reference.
“When I was a kid, I watched his Barcelona win everything with Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are set to battle Lyon in the UEFA Champions League last 16 first leg on Tuesday night.
