Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund certainly stole the headlines during the early stages of the January transfer window, and for good reason. After making his second debut for the club away to Darmstadt on matchday 17, the 23-year-old was quickly able to show the Dortmund faithful what they had been missing.
With quick footwork and an abundance of energy, it had not appeared that Sancho was without a competitive appearance in four months. As well as this, the Englishman was also able to create Dortmund’s second goal, setting up Marco Reus to roll back the years.
However, it is not just on the pitch that Sancho has been repaying Dortmund for putting their faith in him. It is reported that in total, Die Schwarzgelben will pay Manchester United €3 million for the services of Sancho until the end of the season, a fee that is already being decreased by the day.
According to Bild, Sancho’s number-ten shirt has made over 5,000 sales in the first week of being sold by the club. This has ultimately earned Dortmund and their suppliers up to €500,000 in sales already.
With fans flocking to the club shop to purchase their Sancho shirts, there has also been a significant increase in the number of views accumulated on Dortmund’s social media websites. While the Englishman may have only been back at the club for a week, he has certainly made his mark, and if he is to continue performing on the pitch, then further revenue will undoubtedly come Dortmund’s way.
