Lepore was first asked to discuss his thoughts on the incredible second-leg of the Conference League semi-finals, which enabled Italiano’s men to have a shot at seizing European glory for the first time since 1961.
He stated: “It was a crazy match. Fiorentina had so many opportunities and absolutely deserved to win. Before the match I had high hopes but I knew that it wouldn’t be easy, Basel’s defence is good and their stadium is a really difficult pitch, intense fans and you had to do a comeback, not easy. I think that this win was important as it allowed Fiorentina to have confidence going into the finals Wednesday evening. The two finals are both really complicated but for a Fiorentina fan it is special to be there after a long time so let’s see how the things goes.”
In addition, Lepore was also asked about how he sees the Coppa Italia final playing out and who he considers the favourites to seize the domestic trophy:
He mentioned: “I think that this final is more complicated than the Conference League one for Fiorentina. Inzaghi and Inter are doing an amazing job within both the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, so they will maybe be more pumped than us because they recently gained the Champions League final so it’s not an easy one. They also have a really great team and have so much experience in playing these cup finals. Let’s see, in this moment I see Inter as the favourites to win the Coppa Italia.”
