Huddersfield boss Fortheringham concedes frustration around Chelsea loanee Anjorin

Chelsea attacker Tino Anjorin has suffered a setback while out on loan this season.

Anjorin has been absent with illness for a significant period, but was hoping to start for Huddersfield last week.

However, he picked up an injury, which means his return is delayed.

Terriers boss Mark Fortheringham said: “We don’t know. It’s one of those situations where we have to assess it and just chat to the medical guys. It’s disappointing for everyone because Tino has given us all a big lift, just to see him out there expressing himself with his enthusiasm.

“The thing you miss the most is he’s got the quality and he’s a guy who can put the ball in the net as well. You could see we had a lot of opportunities to really stretch the game and sort of put Sheffield United to bed, if you like, but it was probably the final pass or the final decision making where if you have a player like Tino with his confidence…he plays with real dynamic movements and just likes committing players and he’s a nightmare to play against at times.

Fortheringham added: “It’s really sad for Tino: he’s rolled his ankle [on Friday], the day leading up before the game, and we’re going to have to assess that. He’s been doing so well and we had him down to start, and I feel when he’s there in the starting XI there’s a lot more creativity and he’s able to go one-vs-one and bring other people into play.”
