The draw for the Coupe de France’s round of 16 has been made this Monday night. Last weekend saw the introduction of all 18 Ligue 1 clubs. Fifteen of them are in the hat with FC Lorient, FC Metz and RC Lens missing out. Les Merlus have been eliminated by third-tier opposition Sochaux whilst Metz and Lens fell against Ligue 1 opposition, namely Clermont and AS Monaco. PSG have made light work of sixth-tier side Revel (9-0) whilst Lille OSC have hit overseas side from Martinique Golden Lion for twelve. 2023 Coupe de France winners Toulouse have unconvincingly won 3-0 against fifth-tier side Chambéry.
This Monday night’s round of 16 draw will give us some exciting fixtures between Ligue 1 teams, such as Rennes v Marseille and Clermont v Strasbourg. There will be plenty of giant-killing opportunities too with PSG drawn away to third-tier side US Orléans, Lille set to face Racing Club de France, surprise Ligue 1 package Brest bound to lock horns with Trelissac and a resurgent Lyon side set to face fourth-tier side Bergerac.
The Coupe de France’s round of 16 will take place between Friday, January 19th and Sunday, January 21st
