Forest boss Cooper delighted with ‘team spirit’ ahead of Villa clash

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper says they face Aston Villa in good spirits.

Cooper is delighted with the morale amongst the players ahead of today’s clash.

“The team spirit has been brilliant. I think that’s been the best bit,” said Cooper.

“The amount of new players that have joined us since we returned to the Premier League was spoken a lot about last season, but even this season there’s so many new players in.

“One thing that has never been questioned is that there is a real togetherness amongst the guys.

“There’s a bit of a common ground, there’s so many new players who have had that shared experience of coming here as a new player which has probably accelerated relationships quicker than normal.

“It’s about trying to become a team on the pitch which is the transition we are in. That’s been scuppered at times with injuries, but we want to try and settle everything down now and build connections on the pitch which can really help you.”

On Villa, he also said: “You have to be impressed with them in terms of the results and their form.

“You can only say positive things about Villa and we know it’s going to be a tough challenge. It’s a good example of a club that’s been in the Premier League for a few years and have taken time to look like they will become something.

“It’s a game we’re looking forward to and it’s one we need in terms of the challenge at home.”
