Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano was delighted after their 3-0 win against Cagliari.
The Viola cruised to victory on Monday night as Nicolas Gonzalez and M’Bala Nzola struck, with Cagliari also suffering an own goal.
Italiano said: “In the first half we did well, then we dropped a bit like against Frosinone. I changed the front four to stay in their half of the pitch, but it’s difficult to have certain high rhythms when you play every 2-3 days; it’s normal that we try to manage the result, but we can also grow from this point of view.
“I’m happy, for the goals and the ranking.
“In my opinion we still have to grow for one factor: we have changed 8-9 elements and two months from the start of the season they still don’t give us what we achieved at the end of the last tournament.
“They are new guys, when they enter into this concept they will be able to make the difference. We are already ahead of last year because we started well, but we can do better.
“I have the feeling that repeating what we did last year is not easy. It has been a hard, long journey, we also have to look for those situations where we do well. With the new players we can get to the finish line in all competitions. Fiorentina deserves a high and important level, we will try.”
