Exit clause could see Alassane Pléa leave Borussia Mönchengladbach

As reported by Kicker, Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Alassane Pléa (29) has a release clause that could see him leave the Bundesliga club for little over €10m in the summer.

Pléa signed a contract extension prior to the 2022/23 season and although it runs until 2025 with an option to extend by a further year, the Frenchman could leave when his clause becomes active.

Per the report, Pléa has interest from France and was linked with a move to former side OGC Nice last summer. The Frenchman has scored two and created seven in 11 Bundesliga games for Borussia Mönchengladbach under Daniel Farke this season. Since his €23m move Nice in 2018, Pléa has played 156 games for Die Fohlen across all competitions, scoring 49 and creating 39.

Pléa leaving in the summer would be a huge blow to Borussia Mönchengladbach given that Marcus Thuram is also likely to leave the club with his current deal running until 2023 and despite hopes of an extension, there is significant interest in the World Cup runner-up.

This also comes after Breel Embolo left the club for AS Monaco in the summer, and so Die Fohlen could lose their three forwards all in the space of 12 months.
