Nicola Giuliani is now one of the great references for Italian football in terms of agents – particularly now that he’s relocated to London.
With his long list of successful clients, Giuliani has built his credibility on the “field”, operation after operation, working seriously and profitably, juggling between two different worlds (Serie A and Premier League) and bringing results.
Almost eight years ago Giuliani Sports Ltd moved to London and from that moment on, the presence of Nicola and his agency has grown more and more influential. Business is booming as professionals seek their guidance. From Roberto Mancini to Sylvinho to Okan Buruk, Giuliani has found himself at the cutting edge of both the player and coaching market in Europe and around the world.
Giuliani recently sat down to speak exclusively with Tribal Football about the world of football agents and some of the clients he’s managed.
Among the first he raised was the work done by Marco Rossi, coach of Hungary, who has forged an incredible career in partnership with Giuliani: “For those unaware, before beating England twice, both in Budapest and in England with a historic 0-4, Hungary had already managed to bring them to a draw at Wembley.
“To put it simply: in the last three matches against England, two official games and a friendly, the English side was only able to bring home a single point. This says a lot about Marco Rossi’s ability as a manager, and he also proved himself beyond any doubt when he beat Germany away from home.
“He is both a friend and a great manager and I strongly recommend him to those middle-to-top flight clubs who want to invest in quality, in the ability to form a compact group and in the ability to convert hidden talents into important means for the team.”
Italian coaches continue to surprise European football with their ability to upgrade and bring results in different forms. In recent years, both Rossi and Mancini have come to light, the latter with the incredible European Championship won with Italy, a completely unexpected result.
“I’d like to use this occasion to stress how, to this day, Italian managers are proving themselves to be among the absolute best out there. If we think about it: Carlo Ancelotti won the Champions League, proving himself to be the best in the world when it comes to managing the strength of a group; Roberto Mancini won the Euros with a team that on paper was inferior when compared to the likes of France, England or Belgium.
“And now Marco Rossi is doing what he is doing, proving himself to be the revelation at both the Euros and the recent Nations League, where he came incredibly close to end up in the final 4. We can safely say that the great tradition of Italian managers remains confirmed.”
A step back though – and before we end the conversation – how did the idea of moving to London with his agency come about?
“Giuliani Sports moved to London because London is at the heart of the whole football scene and we wanted to be present. We decided to move about 7 or 8 years ago and now we are definitely reaping what we have sown in a major way.
“In the past year Andrea Mancini, son of Roberto, came on board in the role of consultant, thus allowing us to broaden our scope in the market. We work in the field of representation of players and we are specialised in coaches.
“We can name Marco Rossi as one of our top clients, who proved himself and showed the world that the Italian manager is still winning and reliable. What he did at Wembley in particular was the perfect showcase of the great work he is doing.”
Timing is everything, though it cannot be simply a coincidence that as Italian coaching thrives, it’s occurred during the the period of Nicola and his Giuliani Sports making London their successful new home.
