Agent Alessandro Moggi has revealed Lazio turned down the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo early in his career.
However, then Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti turned down the Portuguese as he would rather have signed the Brazilian Ronaldo.
“(Jorge) Mendes was a good friend of (former sporting director Gianmarco) Calleri, we suggested Cristiano to Cragnotti,” Moggi told Calciomercato.com.
“But he replied that he didn’t want him, that he would like the ‘real’ Ronaldo, so there wasn’t even one negotiation.”
The move came when Ronaldo, now with Al Nassr, was with Manchester United.
