Everton boss Sean Dyche says they must not relax against Fulham today.
Everton host the Cottagers in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal.
Dyche said: “We’re patching things together.
“We’ll have a couple back from suspension. Injuries have stretched us, but I’ll certainly be going out with the mentality to win, and putting a team out that I can believe can win.
“Of course, it’s a home game, as well. We want Goodison to be rocking and we want to keep the momentum.
“People say about all clubs: ‘Oh, why aren’t you trying to win [a cup]?’ You don’t try to lose a cup. It’s a strange thing. Trust me, we’re trying to win it. I’ve been trying to win one for years. Everyone is.
“This season, I’ve been trying to change the mentality from last season. And I think it’s right to go into these competitions and say: ‘Right lads, you’re playing.’ None of this, ‘Oh, am I getting rested?’ Not for me, that. I don’t enjoy all that – you’re playing. End of story.
“We’re trying to enhance that mentality. This game might be different because of the injuries, but I’ll wait and see what the news is.”
On the Cup’s mentality, Dyche added: “I wasn’t a brilliant player, but I had the mentality that every game was important, so therefore, try to win it.
“That’s the mentality we want to build, and it becomes a constant. Sir Alex Ferguson had it for years at Manchester United. It became a constant. It’s not a big drama over everything, and it was just: ‘This is what we do. We win.’
“Now, we’re nowhere near that, but what I’m suggesting you can do is build a mentality of that. That’s what I’m looking to do. We’ll put a side out and we’ll be pulling in the right direction to win it.”
