Former Ajax and AC Milan striker Marco van Basten has urged Erik Ten Hag to snap up Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea this summer.
Basten believes Ziyech would be an ideal transfer candidate for ten Hag at Old Trafford. Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax, where he played under Ten Hag, in 2020.
And Van Basten has told Ten Hag, while on a TV show with the incoming United boss, that a reunion at Old Trafford could be a wise idea.
“What comes to my mind now is that I think Ziyech who already plays in England could be a very good footballer at Manchester United for Erik,” the Dutch coach told Ziggo Sports.
However, in Monday’s press conference ten Hag played down the suggestion that the Red Devils could sign Ziyech following Basten’s comments.
“Of course, this was already the case at Ajax,” he said.
“You take that in and then you have to continue to work well with the dressing room and with people within the club. You have to analyse well and make the right choices.”
