Bild reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in Southampton’s German centre-back Armel Bella-Kotchap
Southampton are currently 20th in the Premier League with a small chance of survival. It is suggested that Bella-Kotchap would not want to play in the Championship next season. However, there is no release clause in the 21-year-old’s contract.
The reported price for Bella-Kotchap could be close to €20m despite the relegation. At the moment, this is too high for Frankfurt but the potential of outgoings this summer means they could offer the reported price or negotiate it down.
Sporting director Markus Kröche is aware of the need for investment into the Frankfurt squad after outgoing coach Oliver Glasner made it clear that the current squad was not strong enough to reach the club’s desired goals.
Frankfurt have already completed the signing of Ecuadorian defender Willian Pacho from Royal Antwerp for €9m. There is hope that Frankfurt can potentially bring in another centre-back this summer with the best option being the signing of Bella-Kotchap, while PSG youth centre-back El Chadaille Bitshiabu could also join in addition.
