As reported by Bild, Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller wants Mario Götze to score more goals this season.
After a difficult summer for Die Adler that saw many key players walk out the door, no departure would have felt more detrimental than that of Randal Kolo Muani. Eintracht’s lethal marksman last season, Kolo Muani’s exit to PSG has certainly left a void in the goal scoring department in Frankfurt.
Therefore, Toppmöller has called upon his players to step up this season to compensate for the absence of the French international. One such player that the Frankfurt head coach hopes will increase their attacking output is Götze.
With one goal so far this season, which came in the DFB-Pokal first round, the former Bayern Munich midfielder is being spurred on by his head coach. Toppmöller recently remarked about the 31-year-old: “He has to force himself to keep pushing forward.”
This season, Götze has found himself venturing onto the right-wing for Die Adler where – with his superior game intelligence – he can find himself in more dangerous positions. With a resolute midfield and defence behind him, Toppmöller will be hoping that Götze makes the most out of the new found freedom he has to help push Eintracht up the Bundesliga table.
