Arturo Di Napoli believes Lorenzo Insigne will be hurt leaving Napoli.
Insigne, off contract in June, is set to see his move to Toronto FC confirmed in the coming days. He will play out the season with Napoli before moving to the MLS midseason.
Former Napoli striker Di Napoli told TMW: “I do not know the player but his history. Leaving Naples will be a pain for him, I am convinced that he wanted to end his career there but at certain figures it is crazy to give up. An effort had to be made by the club, because he has had a strong impact on the team.
“At certain figures, it is an important change of life. At 30 he doesn’t have to prove anything anymore, his qualities are clear. We have seen Ibra who has returned from MLS and has recorded the same.
“I am convinced that some strong offers have arrived from Rome, but he has clearly stated that he does not want to play against Napoli. I think it was more a personal matter. An effort for someone like him could have been made to keep him.”
