While Tottenham are genuinely interested in the possibility of signing Ruslan Malinovskyi, a move remains complicated.
Corriere Bergamo have provided some details about the situation of the Ukraine international, claiming that while the player sees Spurs as a welcome destination, the wages of Sergio Reguilon seem to be complicating a potential move. The Spaniard is expected to be a part of the deal which could take Malinovskyi to Tottenham.
Nottingham Forest did make an offer of around €15 million for Malinovskyi recently but it was rejected. Strong contacts were made by La Dea with Marseille, but the player has made it clear that Tottenham are his favourite destination for a move. That has broken down Atalanta’s talks with the French outfit.
Spurs have not made any offer for the Ukraine international yet but relations between the two clubs are excellent due to the deals involving Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini. Antonio Conte, it is suggested, sees Malinovskyi as an alternative to Dejan Kulusevski on the right wing.
But Reguilon currently earns €2.8 million per season and that is a problem, even though Growth Decree regulations can help La Dea. The move isn’t impossible by any means and Atalanta can definitely try and a swap of loan deals can’t be excluded either, as Malinovskyi is well out of La Dea’s current project.
There is a feeling that a solution will be found soon, with Atalanta valuing the player at atleast €20 million right now and that is why talks with Forest broke down. It also seems unlikely that the player will be called up to the squad for the club’s game against Milan tomorrow.
In the meantime, Atalanta have identified Rasmus Hojlund from Sturm Graz as a potential replacement. Contacts have already been underway and a bit has already been rejected, but Hojlund is convinced about joining Atalanta already.
