RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo is likely to join Spanish side Barcelona in the summer of 2024 according to Sport Bild.
During the international break, RB Leipzig sporting director Rouven Schröder and the board have been discussing the future of the club which includes transfer outgoings.
Leipzig sold €240m worth of players in the transfer window this summer however, it has been reported that they will need to sell €60m more worth of players in order to cover the refinancing costs of the infrastructure and salaries.
Olmo is expected to return to the Leipzig side when the international break has finished after suffering with a knee injury over a month ago.
The Spaniard had a flying start to the season when he scored a hat-trick in the DFL Supercup match against Bayern Munich and then scored two goals in three games in the Bundesliga.
Barcelona have admired Olmo for a while and have stepped up their interest in him now that his exit clause will take effect in 2024. The sum of the clause depends on Olmo’s destination however if it is Barcelona who win the race to sign him, the sum will be around €60m.
Olmo’s father Miquel and his advisor Andy Bara have been in contact with Barcelona many times over a long period of time to discuss the appropriate time for him to move.
A move in the winter is unlikely due to the situation with his contract however, there is big potential for a move in the summer.
