Club Brugge coach Parker: I don’t regret Bournemouth comments

Club Brugge coach Scott Parker insists there’s no grudge against former club Bournemouth.

Parker led Cherries back to the Premier League in his first season in charge at the Vitality Stadium.

However, Parker spent most of pre-season and the summer transfer window calling for further reinforcements.

Things came to a head after Cherries were thumped 9-0 by Liverpool, with Parker predicting similar scorelines if Cherries made no further signings. He was sacked in the aftermath.

In an interview with The Times, Parker doubled down on his comments, sharing: “The problem is when you come out of the Championship and go into the Premier League, the gap is huge, it is humongous.

“I have nothing but fond memories of Bournemouth.

“I went into that football club (in their) second year in the Championship.

“We probably got the execution done much quicker than everyone anticipated.

“I don’t regret (what I said). I’m just someone that wants success.

“I get the world I’m in. I’m not silly enough to not believe that.

“But, also, what I am is highly committed to wanting the team to be successful.

“That’s why I wake up every morning, get out of bed, come here, practically live here until night because after sacrificing, moving away, I want us to be successful.”
