Chelsea striker Armando Broja was delighted scoring in their FA Cup win against Preston.
Chelsea won 4-0 thanks to goals from Broja, Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Enzo Fernández.
Broja later said: “Of course, it was a good performance at the end. We struggled a little in the first half to get going, they were defending well. Then we made an adjustment and the first goal opened up the game.
“I just tried to get myself into the box. I saw it was an opportunity for them to deliver a cross in and I tried to get my head on it. It wasn’t a bad header!
“At the beginning it was difficult to break them down. They were quite deep and narrow but we made some adjustments and the game opened up. We created more opportunities and played more of our football.
“We’re a very young squad, everyone knows that. We have a completely new team with a lot of young players. We try to bond together and it’s good to build that for many years to come.”
Asked if scoring was a relief, Broja added: “A little bit. Coming off the bench and playing a few games and not scoring is not easy. I’m really excited and happy I could get that goal today. Hopefully there’s many more in the future.
“Moments like that is what makes you happy and puts a smile on your face. A lot of people don’t see the down days. There’s a lot of pressure on your shoulders when you’re expected to score every game. I try to leave the down days past me and look ahead to the good days. Today was one of those better days.”
