Chelsea midfielder Jorginho admits they paid for their errors in Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.
Jorginho created Christian Pulisic’s goal for the 3-1 quarterfinal first-leg loss.
“We all made errors and against these kinds of teams and players, you pay for mistakes,” Jorginho told Italian TV.
“We must learn quickly from this. It’s not over yet. There is one more game and we have room for improvement. We can turn things around [in the second leg].
“I tried to help the team in the best way I could,” he continued.
“Unfortunately, it’s not enough sometimes, for many reasons. For mistakes, and I am not talking about the third goal, for wrong choices. We need to work on what we can improve.”
Jorginho was also asked if he had recovered from Italy’s World Cup qualifying failure.
“No, not yet. It will take a while and it hurts so much for all of us. As they say, we must move on, but unfortunately it’s a regret that remains inside. We must use it as a motivation to do better in the future and use this pain in our favour.”
