Chelsea’s desire to recruit a centre-forward is no secret. Whilst Sacha Tavolieri reports that Victor Osimhen (25), whose departure from Napoli at the end of the season has already been announced, has chosen to join Chelsea, TéléFoot now reveals that Lille OSC’s Jonathan David (24) is also of interest to the Premier League.
It had been expected that the Canadian forward would leave Lille last summer, however, clubs were ultimately deterred by Les Dogues’ hefty €60m price tag. David endured a tough start to the season, but since the November international break, he has re-discovered his goal-scoring touch, netting four times in his last six appearances in Ligue 1.
David ‘flattered’ by interest
Whilst L’Équipe have reported that David looks set to remain at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy this month, TéléFoot understands that many of Europe’s top clubs are following the Canadian international’s situation closely.
As well as Chelsea, Napoli, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also following David. Questioned on the specific interest of the aforementioned clubs, David said, “When you’re young, these are the clubs you watch, these are the clubs that you think about. It’s flattering. I appreciate it. As we say every year, we’ll see what the future has in store for us.”
