Chelsea caretaker boss Frank Lampard has paid tribute to Arsenal’s board and manager Mikel Arteta ahead of tomorrow night’s meeting.
Lampard says Arsenal’s success this season is an example of a club doing things correctly.
He said, “We all had an insight into them with the Amazon documentary. There is a long process in terms of getting to where you want to get to. I remember going up against Mikel [Arteta] in that early stage.
“Sometimes they played five at the back, sometimes four; now they have a clear identity. There has been a lot of work through the team, Mikel, alignment and good recruitment. Do we have the possibility to do that? Yes. Will it take time and good decisions? Absolutely, yes. But you can get there.
“The manager was being questioned, the players and owners were and that process can take two or three years. They are a great example of that done well.”
Lampard also commented on Arsenal midfielder Jorginho, who left Chelsea in January.
He added, “He’s a very good player, with a good personality. He was a central figure in the team that went on to win the Champions League. If he plays, he’s another good player in that squad, and that shows the options that teams that are challenging for titles have.”
