Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says defeat at home to Nottingham Forest shows his young team needs patience.
Anthony Elanga struck to give Forest the shock win.
Pochettino said, “That is a process that you need to think a little bit about to give time. I think today we create chances, we dominate the game but we were not clinical enough in the last third.
“We should score, if you want to win and we made on mistake and concede. Not frustrated but disappointed because in this process you need luck. I don’t want to take credit from Nottingham Forest. We were not clinical in both areas.
“This type of game will help us be more mature. It’s not only to have quality, it’s about competing in a different way. Of course, we were better, we cannot say we didn’t deserve more but the stats reflects what you do, we create but didn’t score, few shots on target, should be more. That is about the process. We were not lucky as I thought we deserved more against West Ham and today. A matter of time.”
On the hometown jeers, Pochettino added: “You can understand the people that came from the past and want to see the team to win and play well. We are not playing fantastic but I think the performance is not bad. The fans want to win and we need to give the possibility for them to be happy. I understand we are in Chelsea and you should win every single game.”
