Carlos Tevez set to move to the MLS

Argentine striker Carlos Tevez is set to move to the Major League Soccer with DC United said to be interested in his services.

Tevez who featured for both Manchester United and Manchester City is a free agent after leaving Boca Juniors in the summer and according to The Athletic, negotiations are taking place with Tevez and DC United over his potential salary.

He wont be the first player to play for both United and DC United with Wayne Rooney having represented both clubs in his playing career.

Tevez scored 73 times in 148 games at the Etihad, winning the Premier League and FA Cup, but was a controversial figure at the club where he came under fire for handing in a transfer request and refusing to play in a Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

Tevez was linked with a move to Atlanta United last summer but the deal never materialized, with then-head coach Gabriel Heinze proving dismissive of the reports.

Should the former Juventus man join DC United, it would continue final-third changes at the capital city club after they sent winger Paul Arriola to FC Dallas while wingback Kevin Paredes was transferred to German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg for a club-record fee.

D.C. United are entering their second season under Hernan Losada, an Argentine manager who’s instituted a high-pressing system. They narrowly missed the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in 2021.
