Carlo Ancelotti records another milestone in Champions League win

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has clocked another milestone in his managerial career following the club’s 14th title in the Champions League.

The Italian has become the first-ever manager to lift four European Cups and thus passed Bob Paisley and Zinedine Zidane tallies with both winning it on three occasions.

Ancelotti, who is also the only coach to have reached five European Cup finals, has lifted the trophy twice at Real Madrid. The first was in his previous spell at the club, when he secured the Décima in the Lisbon final in 2014. This was another memorable moment for Real Madrid with Ramos’ 93rd-minute goal against Atlético and the subsequent extra-time victory courtesy of goals from Bale, Marcelo, and Cristiano Ronaldo (4-1).

His first two triumphs in the competition came while he was with AC Milan; the first coming in 2003, with a penalty shootout win over Juventus at Old Trafford, before he clinched a second European Cup in 2007, beating Liverpool 2-1 in the final in Athens.

He now joins the select few Madridista coaches to have lifted the European Cup on multiple occasions (2014 and 2022). The Italian sits alongside Zidane (3), Villalonga (2), Carniglia (2), Miguel Muñoz (2) and Del Bosque (2).
