Kicker reports that the Bundesliga is Europe’s top-scoring league in goals per game with the Swiss league and Dutch league rounding out the top three.
In the opening seven games of the season, 222 goals have been scored which is the highest tally the Bundesliga has seen in 39 years. The highest goalscoring teams in the league so far are Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich (both 23) and VfB Stuttgart (22), no other team in Europe’s top five leagues has been able to score at least 22 goals.
While the individuals leading the way in the goalscoring charts are Stuttgart’s Sehrou Guirassy who is the league’s top goalscorer with 13 goals, which in itself is a record at this stage of the season. Followed by Harry Kane (8), Jonas Wind and Victor Boniface (both 7).
The average of goals per matchday is 31 with an average of 3.52 per game. The second highest in Europe is the Swiss Super League with 3.17. The other leagues that make up the top five leagues are the Premier League in fifth (3.00), LaLiga in sixth (2.91), Ligue 1 in seventh (2.82) and Italy in 10th (2.61).
However, with this rise in goals being scored, it does mean the defending has worsened. Several teams in the bottom half of the table of broken their records for most goals conceded at this point of the season.
