Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil was left disappointed after their 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Jaidon Anthony’s first-half strike was all that separated the sides, until former Cherries striker Sam Surridge came off the bench to score with seven minutes to play and earn a share of the spoils.
The result sees Cherries slip into the relegation zone for the first time this season, with this their first point since returning from the World Cup break.
O’Neil told the Daily Echo: “My overriding emotion at the moment is disappointment, obviously, that we only take a point.
“Because the boys put a lot in and it’s a small error for the goal.
“But we should secure the ball better than we did after we cleared it. Forest are a threat on transition and we managed it so well for the whole game.
“They don’t really hurt you with the ball, they hurt you when there’s a turnover and that was annoying that one of them caught us.
“But there were so many positives from the game as well. But at this moment in time, so close to the final whistle, disappointed that we weren’t quite able to take all three.”
Asked if they were left to rue good chances missed, O’Neil added: “We did a lot of work this week on trying to go around Nottingham Forest, so overlaps and getting to the byline and I thought we had a threat on the left side with JZ and Jaidon.
“And Dango (Ouattara), another big positive. It was a big ask for him to start.
“JZ and Jaidon, their combination down one side, and Dango’s pace on the other gave us a threat.
“Disappointed we couldn’t add the second because a couple of real good headed chances and a couple of breakaway chances as well in the second half, where if you manage to score one of those, it could’ve been different.
“So, disappointed, but it’s a point.”
