Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola felt fatigue was a factor in their 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Justin Kluivert’s early opener was cancelled out by Forest’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Iraola said: “We started really well. They had much more rest than us. It affected us. There were 30-something fouls. It was too much. It affected us. It has been a game where there was not a lot of spaces for both teams.
“We dealt with the game well. I don’t think we conceded clear chances. I think we have been quite good the last few games. Today we started very, very good but once we burnt some energy we couldn’t keep this level.
“We could feel the difference. [Forest played Tuesday]. They were fresher. That is the reason we made the subs early to keep the physical level. I think we pushed a lot from the beginning. We had chances – not clear, clear chances. We have to keep working and keep getting results. We have to keep going.”
Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing was sent off late on and Iraola added: “I think his foot is touching the floor. It’s nothing dangerous. It’s too harsh to be a red card. There was nothing in there. I felt it was going to be a yellow. VAR has obviously seen it in and decided not to overturn the decision. But I think we did quite well with 10 players. We survived.”
