As reported by Christian Falk on the “Bayern Insider” podcast, Bayern Munich are keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.
After catching the eye this season with Die Werkself as well as the German National Team, the Bavarian giants are considering luring the 27-year-old away from the BayArena. Thomas Tuchel is said to be a fan of Tah’s, who can be used flexibly in defence.
It is also understood that Tah has an €18 million release clause within his contract that expires in 2025. However, it can only be activated during the summer, meaning that if Bayern are hoping to sign him in January, they will have to pay over the odds for his services.
Nevertheless, after missing out on the signing of Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo, they could look to go all out on the German international. This would, however, be dependent on whether the Werkself agree to sell to their direct rivals for the Meisterschale this season, which would be hard to imagine.
Therefore, there are a plethora of other names on Der Rekordmeister’s shortlist for defensive incomings during the winter. Clément Lenglet, Arnau Martínez, and Giorgio Scalvini are all understood to be on Bayern’s radar, with one defender expected to be signed in January.
