Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel was happy after their 4-3 victory over Champions League opponents Manchester United.
Bayern were always in control, with United closing things up only in the final minutes.
Tuchel said: “It was a bit paradoxical because our second half was better than our first, but we lost the second and won the first. Tonight’s result was big for our confidence and development, but there are still things to work on.
“We’re posing a threat in every game, creating chances in every game, but we were very reserved in the opening exchanges and lucky not to fall behind. The goals helped up establish some confidence and fluidity. We’re not 100% happy so far, but the reactions to adversity tonight were very good.
“It is a deserved win. Every win in the Champions League is a big point. Every win against Manchester United is a big point. We didn’t have the rhythm that we wanted and, in the phase after we made it 3-1, we could have killed the game off. But we reacted well to every setback.”
On Harry Kane, Tuchel added: “He played a different role in a half-position today: he was asked to turn and assist and find speed on the wings. He was more involved in the second half, much like the whole team, who were more fluid. He had some chances that he took and he scored a very important penalty to take a two-goal lead just after conceding.”
