As reported by Sky Germany, Bayern Munich are set to miss out on Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo.
It is understood that Der Rekordmeister have been targeting the Uruguayan defender for over two years now. However, a deal to bring Araújo to Bavaria does not look to be on the horizon.
Barcelona are keen to extend Araújo’s contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2026, and this is something that Bayern have been informed about. Regardless, Thomas Tuchel had given the green light for the record champions to try and lure the 24-year-old to the Bundesliga.
With the ability to cover at right-back as well, Araújo would offer Tuchel the perfect solution to his defensive woes. Nevertheless, despite talks between the centre-back and Bayern, it appears that there is little chance of a move in the near future.
For Bayern, the search for a centre-back continues after seemingly missing out on Leny Yoro and deciding that Raphaël Varane’s wage demands would be difficult to match. If they are to compete in the Champions League and keep up the pace with Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table, then they will need to identify attainable transfer targets soon.
