Barcelona president Joan Laporta has opened the door to a striker signing this summer.
Laporta did not want to give details on “great players” like Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah, leaving conversations in the air, but was clear when asked about Haaland and Mbappe, practically ruling out their signings.
“Based on the financial conditions I’ve been told, even if we could, we would not do it,” he said. “We have to use reason when we make signings.”
The president added that he has not met with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland in Marbella as has been speculated and that he’s not “met with him or anyone from his camp.”
Another subject that came up was Adama and Trincao, who could be part of a Barça-Wolves swap deal this summer, “it would be a good option,” Laporta said,” as well as confirming interest in Leeds United’s Raphinha: “We have great reports.”
Deco, the former Barça player, is involved in the operation but Laporta denied he also has an official job at Barça.
“Deco’s not on the payroll at Barça,” he said. “He has his job as an agent. He keeps us informed because he dominates [certain markets] and thanks to him we haven’t made some mistakes.”
