Barcelona chief Jordi Cruyff says major players are willing to take pay-cuts to join them.
Cruyff says he has been “impacted” by the willingness of certain players to make sacrifices to move to Camp Nou.
“It is well known we want to strengthen certain positions in the squad,” Cruyff said at the presentation of Andreas Christiensen on Thursday.
“It is our job to have different names on the table. As we move forward, some are more feasible than others, and that is what we are seeing now.
“What impacted me most is that when players hear Barça, they listen … they are even willing to lose some money to fit into our new salary structure, which is what we are doing at the moment.
“We take pride seeing how willing players are to be part of this club. It is something we don’t talk about much, but we have a new, fairer salary structure, trying to make it more stable. It’s essential.
“Regarding individual players, as the president (Joan Laporta) said, I don’t want to say names, because other clubs are involved, and we would not like that.
“There needs to be respect, but we are looking to strengthen certain positions we consider essential, where we need to add more competition or make signings.”
