Atletico Madrid GM Miguel Angel Gil Marin says Spanish football needs to modernise if they’re to bridge the gap regarding the Premier League’s global popularity.
Gil Marin says moving into the Wanda Metropolitano has handed Atletico a huge advantage.
He said: “Perhaps for Atlético it means less, because we have already taken that step, building the new stadium, but it is important that the rest do the same, it is the only way we have to grow at the level of image, offer and produce services.
“If we want to make a league that competes with the Premier, a global league, it is necessary to modernise, digitise and build infrastructure so that the fan can enjoy the experience.”
Gil Marin continued: “All the clubs have been developing infrastructures and modernisation. The Impulso plan comes to try to bring everyone closer, we all need this support, those who have developed talent, to improve it and those who have not been able to do so, so that they are obliged. The modernisation of the entire competition will benefit everyone”.
