AS Monaco have elected to appoint Austrian manager Adi Hütter as their new head coach, according to a report from L’Equipe. Sources contacted by Get French Football News can confirm that the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss will join Les Monégasques from next season onwards. Hütter will replace dismissed Belgian coach Philippe Clement in the Stade Louis-II dugout after the latter failed to qualify the Principality side for European competition next season. The French publication reports that talks are still ongoing between Monaco and Hütter. The Austrian may not be officially appointed before Les Monégasques’ return to pre-season training on Monday.
Hütter came through the Red Bull system at RB Salzburg, like Paul Mitchell and Thiago Scuro – the Englishman will be eventually replaced by the Brazilian as Monaco’s Sporting Director. Hütter won the Austrian league in 2015 with Salzburg and the Swiss Super League three years later with BSC Young Boys. On the back of this Swiss league win, Hütter joined Eintracht Frankfurt for a three-year stint. In 2021, the Austrian joined Borussia Mönchengladbach and parted ways with the club after only one season in charge.
