Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed Arsenal are one of the English clubs that have shown interest in Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
The 23-year-old had an impressive outing in the recently concluded EURO 2020, helping the Azzurri lift the coveted crown with breathtaking performances.
Juventus are at the fore of the queue to sign the former AC Milan man, who has made his interest of joining the Turin club known.
The Gunners have reportedly lodged a £34m, which is Sassuolo’s valuation of Locatelli, but Carnevali is adamant the player is keen on joining Juventus.
He, Carnevali, further revealed that there is a new entrant into the race, an English club, which he did not name.
“Locatelli wants to join Juventus,” Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia on Thursday.
“However, the club needs to reach an agreement with us. We’ll see if there are the right conditions to make it happen, otherwise, he is staying with us. We’ll speak to Juve tomorrow.
“Locatelli also has proposals from Arsenal and another English club that has now joined the race, so he must make a decision, or of course he could stay with us,”
The clubs after Locatelli’s signature have also been given an ultimatum.
“We are not selling any of our star names after 8 August,” he said. “Domenico Berardi is our top player, we want to keep him,”
Arsenal have been busy in the current window, bringing in Albert Sambi and Nuno Tavares from Anderlecht and Benfica respectively.
They have also agreed with Brighton over the signing of defender Ben White.
