Arnold convinced Glazers not to take Man Utd dividends

Manchester United chief exec Richard Arnold was able to convince the Glazers not to take dividends this year from the club.

United made a £26.5million loss for Q1 2023, with the Glazers then deciding not to take their semi-annual dividend last month.

The Telegraph says this was partly down to the influence of Arnold behind the scenes.

The United CEO took the role last year, shortly after the resignation of Ed Woodward – who walked away following the failed European Super League plot of the previous year.

And Arnold has been hoping to fare far better than his predecessor, who many often blame for United’s slump in the years since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

Since 2005, the Glazers have received more than £160m in dividends – much to the ire of fans.

Yet Joel Glazer apparently accepted the continuation of the dividend was ‘hard to justify’ due to the current climate.
