L’Équipe have revealed that Antoine Griezmann’s (32) Atletico Madrid contract includes a release clause worth just €25m, although at this moment in time, a move doesn’t look to be on the cards.
Griezmann has refound his best form at Atletico this season, scoring 16 goals and registering 19 assists in all competitions, whilst for France, he shone in a deeper role during the Qatar World Cup. The France international and his family are happy in Madrid, but the former Barcelona player has a release clause that could potentially entice clubs this summer.
According to L’Équipe, Griezmann negotiated a €25m release clause into his contract at the beginning of the season. However, for now, the only discussions that are ongoing are with Saudi Arabia, who have made contact and are testing the waters. The chances of Griezmann moving to the Gulf State are minimal.
There are rumours of interest from Paris Saint-Germain, however, L’Équipe report that no concrete interest has been shown by Les Parisiens. It is no secret that Griezmann would like to finish his career in the United States, and the player is currently in New York, where he is using the opportunity to speak with some of the major actors of the MLS. However, it is unclear whether now is the moment to make the move across the Atlantic.
