Spanish newspaper AS has revealed that striker Anthony Martial has been suffering from an injury in recent weeks with Sevilla.
The Frenchman missed the club’s 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid during their last time out as they confirmed their Champions League spot. According to the newspaper, the Frenchman missed the game with an injury and is unlikely to stay at the club past his loan deal.
Martial joined Sevilla in January to increase his playing chances with the French national team but nothing has worked as he would have expected. AS ran a headline over the weekend calling Martial a ‘disaster’, which titled a critical piece on the forward’s disappointing loan spell.
“Sevilla’s French striker is injured again and is absent against Atletico: it is the third time since he arrived in January. His signing is revealed to be a disaster,” the paper noted.
Martial had only returned from injury a week ago to face Mallorca, but some muscle discomfort led to him pulling out of the big game against Atleti. After scoring one goal in 12 games, it’s unlikely that Sevilla will sign the player permanently as his wages are way beyond their budget.
It remains to be seen if United’s new man Erik ten Hag will hand the player a lifeline but a move in the summer looks unlikely.
