Chelsea FC defender Andreas Christensen is a step away from joining Laliga giants FC Barcelona.
Sport claims that the player’s representative and Barca are on the verge of signing a pre-contract deal that will see the Danish international move to Camp Nou in the summer.
Christensen was initially fancied to sign a new long-term contract with the Blues last summer but he made a surprise U-turn with reports stating that he wanted to be one of the highest earners at the club.
The same situation has been experienced by Antonio Rudiger who has refused to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge despite his current deal expiring in the summer.
The reports claim that Christesen has given his ‘verbal OK’ to the free transfer and it’s only a matter of time before a formal announcement is made regarding the Bosman move.
Barca are also looking to land Christensen’s teammate and Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who could leave the club due to his preference for a multi-year deal.
Center defense is not something Barca should be worried about as they have Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet, and Oscar Mingueza but there are reports that coach Xavi wants a new set of players in that position.
