Inter goalkeeper André Onana has stated his belief that the Nerazzurri deserve to be respected more in the UEFA Champions League.
Inter take on Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, as Milan take on Napoli. But due to Inter’s inconsistent form this season, many see Benfica as the favourites to go through to the semi-finals of the competition. Roger Schmidt’s side have been one of the most impressive sides in the competition, even if they were in the same group as Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
Onana recently spoke to Sportmediaset and he gave his views on the Nerazzurri’s Champions League campaign. He stated that Inter knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League and they deserve more respect.
He stated: “We deserve more respect in Europe because we sent Barcelona to the Europa League and we were in a complicated group. We showed that we are a strong team . It doesn’t matter what happens against Benfica, but we’re going to play there to win.”
The goalkeeper also revealed that he wants to win everything with Inter but he is looking forward to the remainder of the season.
“I want to win it all. You must always play without fear. If there is fear, I’m afraid it’s better not to take the field. A difficult month awaits us, but we train every day to play matches like the ones against Juve and Benfica. We need to train well and I am convinced that if we work well, it will be a month full of satisfaction.”
Inter slipped to third recently after their defeat to Juventus and they will face the Bianconeri in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, a competition they did manage to win last season under Simone Inzaghi.
